Meet your local Arable Specialist, Sarah Evans
By Sarah Evans 20 days ago

Sarah EvansSarah Evans joined Wynnstay in September 2018, as an Arable Specialist for Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and surrounding counties. Sarah has a wealth of experience and specialises in fertiliser, soil sampling, grass seed, root crop seed, cereal seed, maize seed and grassland agriculture and chemicals.

Sarah was brought up in a sheep and beef family farm near Newent, Gloucestershire. She has her own flock of sheep and breeds and sells Charollais X rams and ewes, so she has plenty of on-farm experience too having previously worked for Timac Agro, selling specialist fertiliser and animal mineral blocks. This involved soil sampling and designing nutrient plans for farms to get the most out of their grass/soils through replacing removed nutrients.

Before this, she worked for DLF, at their grass-breeding and trialling site near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Here she gained knowledge of everything from grass species characteristics and suitability, to the latest farming practices. Sarah has a key role to play in breeding/trialling the grass varieties that are on the NIAB recommended list.
After graduating from Aberystwyth University with a BSc Agriculture, Sarah worked for ADAS at their Herefordshire trial site. She gained experience on crop diseases for a range of cereals, wheat, barley and oil-seed rape.

All of her previous jobs and education have tied in very well as a natural lead up to Sarah’s current role at Wynnstay. She enjoys the variety of the job and interacting with a wide range of colleagues and customers. Sarah has a keen interest in soil health and in getting the most from the soil, for the benefit of customers’ crops and livestock.
