After graduating from Aberdeen University with a BSc Hons in Agriculture, Nick went on to study for an MSc in Seed Technology at Edinburgh University.

He began his working career in the seed business of CWS Farms Group, based in East Yorkshire.

In 1994 Nick moved to Shropshire as Seed Operations Manager for Ridleys Seeds and joined Wynnstay as Seed Manager in 2000.

He moved to his current role as Arable Inputs Director in 2014.

Paul started out in the agricultural industry with NB Camber Ltd in 1990, from there he moved on to trading grain Shropshire Grain Ltd.

The business was bought by Wynnstay in 1999 and Paul was promoted to Senior Trader, continuing in this position when Wynnstay purchased Wrekin Grain in 2011 and combined the two businesses into Grainlink.

In 2012 he moved to Agrii Ltd as Head of Marketing, then to Countrywide as a Commodities Trader for the Western region, before re-joining Wynnstay as Arable Trade Manager in May 2015.

Charlie joined Wynnstay in 2014 having completed a degree in Agriculture at Harper Adams University.

Charlie is an Arable Sales Specialist and is currently working towards his FACTS and BASIS qualifications.

Charlie has been involved in agriculture from a young age, previously working on arable and livestock farms prior to joining Wynnstay.

As a specialist, Charlie provides arable and forage inputs advice on-farm – from soil analysis to fertiliser planning, seed selection and agronomy advice. 

Charlie covers the West Midlands, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire.

After graduating from Plymouth University with a BSc in Geography, Ed went on to study for an MSc in Sustainable Crop Production: Agronomy at the University of Warwick.

He has gained practical farming experience in both the UK and Australia.

In June 2015 after completing his MSc, Ed took up his current role with Wynnstay and, after passing his FACTS qualification, is now working towards obtaining BASIS qualifications to become a fully qualified agronomist.

Edward provides high quality, technical advice to farmers on all aspects of crop management.  

Edward covers Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Joe joined Wynnstay in 2016 on the Arable Graduate Scheme, after graduating from Harper Adams University with a BSc (Hons) degree in Food and Consumer Studies BSc. (Honours).

Joe spent his first 10 months working in each arable inputs department, gaining a thorough understanding of the industry, products and building his technical knowledge.

In June 2017, Joe was offered a new role as an office-based Arable Trader – providing bespoke arable and forage inputs advice to farmers and offering competitive quotations.

In 1994, Sarah joined Wynnstay to work alongside her father Peter.

Over the last 22 years  Sarah has further developed Wynnstay’s presence in Cheshire and the surrounding counties where her areas of expertise in animal feed and associated products, along with arable inputs such as fertiliser and seed have meant she has been well placed to maintain strong working relationships with a customer base that hold her with high regard.

Sarah consistently strives to provide customers with a competitive and top quality service, in many cases going well beyond the call of duty.

Chris joined the Wynnstay Arable Team in August 2017.

He previously worked in Staffordshire as a Sprayer Operator and Arable Operator, gaining a wealth of experience.

During this time, he also successfully completed his BASIS qualification at Harper Adams University – looking to pursue a career in Agronomy. 

As a Wynnstay specialist, Chris provides agronomy advice on grassland, maize, wholecrop, roots and cereals.

He also provides bespoke guidance on soil nutrition and fertiliser programmes, as well as cereal and forage seed advice.  

Chris covers Derbyshire, Staffordshire and South Cheshire.

Adam studied Countryside Managment at Harper Adams University College, graduating in 2003.

Following a period travelling he joined Wynnstay as a Trainee Seed Specialist in November 2004.

Promotion to his current role as Grass and Root Seed Product Manager followed in 2010.

Adam currently sits on the UK Herbage Crop Committee making decisions on new Herbage Variety recommendations.

Katie joined the Wynnstay team in July 2016 as a Seed Sales Co-ordinator for Grass and Roots.

Katie grew up on a farm just outside Shrewsbury and has always had an interest in agriculture and farming.

Katie is responsible for all grass and root seed administration activity, as well as handling enquiries from customers, the Wynnstay Sales Team and Wynnstay Retail Stores.

Katie has studied for a NVQ level 2 in Business Administration NVQ level 2 and an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2: Certificate in Accounting.

Having always had an interest in agriculture, Jo joined Wynnstay in August 2016 as Seed Sales Co-ordinator for Cereals, OSR and Pulses.

Jo previously worked for Belvidere Secondary School as a Data and Assessment Administrator.

Whilst working there, she completed a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Business & Administration, through The Open University. Jo is now based in the Arable Department, Shrewsbury.

Her main responsibilities include Cereal, OSR & Pulse seed administration tasks, wholesale sales and handling seed enquiries from customers, the Wynnstay Sales Team and Wynnstay Retail Stores. 


Simon Pope

After graduating from UCW Aberystwyth with BSc Hons in Agricultural Botany, Simon went on to achieve a PhD from Imperial College London, researching the Sclerotinia Diseases of Arable Crops.

His career began in 1984 on a field trials station in Wiltshire, before moving to the Pathology department of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany, Cambridge.

In 1990 Simon took on a more commercial role as a crop protection specialist covering Cheshire and North Shropshire.

Since joining Wynnstay in 2000, he has been responsible for the company’s crop protection activities and also fulfils the roles of Maize Product Manager and Silage Additive Product Manager.

Sophie has been a member of the Wynnstay Arable team since January 2016.

Based at Astley in Shrewsbury, Sophie handles incoming fertiliser enquiries from customers, sales personnel and Wynnstay stores.

In addition to this, she supports the fertiliser product management team by undertaking key administration duties.

Sophie is also one of the main points of contact for Maize Seed and Crop Protection product enquiries and administration.

Dave began his career as production manager in a straw processing business based on the current Astley site.

In January 2000 he joined Wynnstay as Transport and Logistics manager gradually taking on a more commercial role.

Dave became Assistant Fertiliser manager in 2010 and was promoted into his current role as Fertiliser Manager four years ago.

Following 3 years in retail management, Kate graduated from Keele University with dual honours in Geography and Education Studies.

Kate started with Wynnstay in May 2012, working on the trade counter and supporting distribution to retail stores based at Astley. 

Kate then took on more of a commercial role within the department leading to promotion to the Assistant Product Manager (Fertiliser) position she holds today.

In this position, Kate provides bespoke fertiliser advice and quotes to customers.

She also supports the Fertiliser Product Manager with supplier and sales relations, liaising with key fertiliser manufacturers and communicating pricing and market updates to the Wynnstay sales team.

Rachel graduated with a Business Studies degree from Liverpool John Moores University in 2015.

After graduating, she was employed as a Sales Executive with Quartix Ltd before joining Wynnstay in December 2015 as Assistant Product Manager for Grass and Root Seed.

In June 2017, Rachel started a new role within Wynnstay Arable as a Fertiliser Sales Specialist.

Within this role, Rachel works closely with the Fertiliser Product Manager, continuing to develop close relationships with fertiliser manufacturers to ensure Wynnstay are able to maintain a quality product offering and competitive terms for customers.

Rachel also handles incoming sales enquiries, offering quotations and bespoke advice.

Emma joined Wynnstay’s Fertiliser Department in March 2008.

Since then, Emma has been responsible for all aspects of fertiliser administration and has taken ownership for South Wales fertiliser logistics – liaising with suppliers, hauliers and customers to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of product.

In 2016, Emma was promoted to Senior Fertiliser Administrator – continuing to provide a high level of customer service and administration duties.

Linda has worked for Wynnstay for over 21 years – having come from a farming background herself.

In her early career, Linda worked in the hospitality industry in the south of England but returned to her home town in Shropshire, and began her career at Wynnstay shortly after.

Linda’s current role involves working closely with the seed production team – undertaking essential administration and certification duties and liaising with DEFRA on behalf of Wynnstay.

Additionally, Linda works closely on seed enquiries with Wynnstay stores and handles customer seed queries.
